About Mayo Academic Consulting
My mission is to help families gain clarity and confidence as they navigate their child’s educational journey through experienced guidance.
My vision is to faithfully serve the Lord by guiding families toward intentional educational choices that help their children flourish academically and spiritually.
I have worked closely with the homeschool community since 2015. Additionally, I have an extensive knowledge in transcript creation and high school program creation due to my experience founding, running, and teaching in an accredited local private school.
There is no single ‘right’ homeschool path. Many families feel uncertain about pacing, curriculum choices, or long-term planning. This framework is designed to help you step back and see the bigger picture — just like an educator would.

A complete assessment to guide your planning
During the summer, I offer IOWA basic skills testing at the current grade level for your student. I then explain the grading sheet to you and give some suggestions on how to support your student in their academic strengths and weaknesses.
Note: Standardized testing is not required for homeschoolers, but it can be helpful in determining their academic levels compared to other students in that grade across the nation.

Not sure how to create a transcript or what classes your high schooler should take?
This 90-minute planning session includes:

* Course choices for the next school year with your student's input

Note: There are no particular requirements for a parent to issue a homeschool diploma to their student. However, some parents want a transcript if the student intends on going to a college or university after high school.
Tutoring
Does your student need additional support?
I offer three main tutoring programs:
1) Occasional tutoring - Every other week, we meet up for an hour to go over any concepts, math problems, or skills that your student needs assistant with. Text me 24 hours in advance of what your student needs to have reinforced and I'll come prepared to teach or re-teach that concept. Good for students who are intendent workers but sometimes get stuck.
2) Regular tutoring - Once per week for an hour, we will meet up to reinforce a particular subject your student needs assistance in. This can be reading, writing, math, or any other subject. In this program, we work pretty consistently in one subject, not bouncing around to other subjects within the program.
3) Intensive tutoring - Two to three times per week, we meet up and I teach a class to your student, and assign work for them to do on the in between days. I also give and grade assessments, work, and give a grade at the end of the school year.
